Types of transmissions:

The automatic transmission is the most popular one and use nowadays. But the simplest one is the manual transmission.

Manual Transmission:

A manual transmission consists of gears and shafts. A driver gets the desired speed by shifting gears, a clutch, and a shifter. Function:

Automatic transmission functions on principles of fluid dynamics. The engine of car connects to bell housing that consists of the torque converter that performs automatic transmission. A torque converter consists of impeller, stator, turbine and clutch. Impeller connects housing to the engine. The force that is thrown on impeller turns up the engine that produces torque to the transmission. Stator lessons the churning losses and gives maximum torque output and it is present between the impeller and turbine. Stator acts like a clutch. It rotates in the single direction when turbine and impeller work at the same speed.

Dual clutch transmission:

It functions alike manual transmission. It is computer control and links between the manual and automatic transmission. Electric cars don’t use this transmission at all, but a single fixed ratio that transmits power to the wheels.

Transmission fluid:

To check fluid transmission, first, open your car’s lid and look for the transmission fluid dipstick. The dipstick should be covered fully in fluid and it should go up to the full indicator line on the dipstick. To confirm precision, clean the dipstick with a clean sheath and repeat this process. If everything is fine, replace the dipstick and close your car’s lid.

Checking the transmission fluid:

Check your transmission fluid according to manufacturer advice for changing when to change the fluid. Some suggest it after every 30,000 miles, while others recommend a change until 100,000 miles..

The color of transmission fluid:

Transmission fluid is quite visible i.e. either red or dyed pink. The fluid should be clear enough to see through. The dark color may be signs of degraded transmission fluids or transmission problems. But never only rely on the color.
